Many applications actually work procedures when you load your pc, even when you aren't using them.

To get rid of every one of these unnecessary applications, open your Control Panel, Go into add & remove program or program features and remove Applications as well as Features that you do not use, slowly scroll through the listing of installed software.
Uninstall programs that you don't need to have, although currently being mindful to be able to leave applications your pc's that are necessary (Be aware of the programs maker for eg. Microsoft).

If you're undecided with regards to which applications to use to help clean your computer, consider using a third-party for example PC Decrapifier- it really is cost-free intended for non-commercial use -- which should let you know which applications you can safely remove and that are not necessary.

2) Remove temporary files for your operating system.

Temporary files build up on your computer constantly from installing programs, installing updates, browsing on the internet (from history, offline files, images, movies, etc..), It is best to regularly remove these temporary files as to free space and to help reduce the computer processing these files. Also viruses and other nasties can hide in these temporary files.
To do this, open "My Computer", and select your main drive (usually C:\). Scroll down and select the "Windows" folder and then open the folder titled "Temp".
Click and hold the left mouse button and scroll over all the files in this folder making sure they are all highlighted, then click the "DEL" key this will give you an option to delete these files, click yes.

Then go to the Recycle Bin on your desktop and empty it.

3) Install a solid state drive.

Hard drives are the biggest cause of slow speeds and especially slow start-up speeds on your PC. Mechanical hard drives
Usually sometimes have a lot of problems straight from the manufacturer or which they incur over a period of time.

While they are not cheap solid state drives are a bit more durable and don’t suffer from the majority of problems compared to the mechanical drives, they have extremely fast read times, can speed up your start-up considerably.

The normal mechanical hard drives usually process at 9ms to generally 14ms and 15ms to process a request which can range depending on the configuration of the computer and other factors. Solid state drives process at 0.1ms or lower and they also allow throughput of data over 500mb/s compared to 40mbs upwards.

4) Adding more hard drive storage.
Even if you make sure to regularly clean out all your temporarily files, if your hard drive becomes really full, it's going to affect your computer's speed.
If you like to make movies or capture your favorite family events with your camera and then put them on your computer your going to need a lot of space. Photos and Music also take up a lot of space on your computer and in no time your disk space could be all used up.

5. Cleaning old and useless files and also the registry.

Besides the temporary files which build up. We must also take into account other different areas in the computer which build up with junk and or errors. But for these programs we usually use proper programs, using the wrong program can cause more damage. CCleaner can help with cleaning all of your computer of these files as well as scan your registry for registry errors which can cause performance problems or stop things from working.

Going into “My Computer” and then right clicking on your main hard drive, then clicking properties will show you a button called “Disk cleanup” this is Microsofts built in cleanup tool for Windows which will automatically go over your computer and clean junk from your computer.

If you delete any files by accident removing files manually instead of automatically you can request a data recovery specialist to help retrieve these files for you for example: Data backup & Recovery
